HIGH SCHOOL -- 1957 vs. 2008

Scenario 1:

Jack goes quail hunting before school and then pulls into the school parking lot with his shotgun in his truck's gun rack.

1957 - Vice Principal comes over, looks at Jack's shotgun, goes to his car and gets his shotgun to show Jack..

2008 - School goes into lock down, FBI called, Jack hauled off to jail and never sees his truck or gun again.. Counselors called in for traumatized students and teachers.

Scenario 2:

Johnny and Mark get into a fist fight after school.

1957 - Crowd gathers. Mark wins. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up buddies.

2008 - Police called and SWAT team arrives -- they arrest both Johnny and Mark. They are both charged with assault and both expelled, even though Johnny started it.

Scenario 3:

Jeffrey will not be still in class, he disrupts other students.

1957 - Jeffrey sent to the Principal's office and given a good paddling by the Principal. He then returns to class, sits still and does not disrupt class again.

2008 - Jeffrey is given huge doses of Ritalin. He becomes a zombie. He is then tested for A..D.D. The school gets extra money from the state because Jeffrey has a disability.

Scenario 4:

Billy breaks a window in his neighbor's car and his Dad gives him a whipping with his belt.

1957 - Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal, goes to college and becomes a successful businessman.

2008 - Billy's dad is arrested for child abuse. Billy is removed to foster care and joins a gang. The state psychologist is told by Billy's sister that she remembers being abused herself and their dad goes to prison. Billy's mom has an affair with the psychologist.

Scenario 5:

Mark gets a headache and takes some aspirin to school.

1957 - Mark shares his aspirin with the Principal out on the smoking dock.

2008 - The police are called and Mark is expelled from school for drug violations.. His car is then searched for drugs and weapons.

Scenario 6:

Pedro fails high school English.

1957 - Pedro goes to summer school, passes English and goes to college.

2008 - Pedro's cause is taken up by state. Newspaper articles appear nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement for graduation is racist. ACLU files class action lawsuit against the state school system and Pedro's English teacher. English is then banned from core curriculum. Pedro is given his diploma anyway but ends up mowing lawns for a living because he cannot speak English..

Scenario 7:

Johnny takes apart leftover firecrackers from the Fourth of July, puts them in a model airplane paint bottle and blows up a red ant bed.

1957 - Ants die...

2008 - ATF, Homeland Security and the FBI are all called.. Johnny is charged with domestic terrorism. The FBI investigates his parents -- and all siblings are removed from their home and all computers are confiscated. Johnny's dad is placed on a terror watch list and is never allowed to fly again.

Scenario 8:

Johnny falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee. He is found crying by his teacher, Mary.. Mary hugs him to comfort him.

1957 - In a short time, Johnny feels better and goes on playing.

2008 - Mary is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job. She faces 3 years in State Prison. Johnny undergoes 5 years of therapy.

Reasons for my absence:

Without going into too much detail I have had some very personal things come up in the past year or so which has caused me to not be able to post. I have gone through some really traumatic things and since December of 2008 life has sucked bad for me. But I am hot on the heels of putting everything back on track.

Maybe I can get Janet Napolitano to add me to the list of radical right wingers to be watched. HA...what a joke.

Add to this, Barrack HUSSEIN Obama .. Nice job with that election America .. and his inability to speak coherently about anything (ahem, can we say NOT QUALIFIED TO BE PRESIDENT?) and you have a recipe that is ripe for political based postings.

Ok, time to go find some material, have a great day folks....please get the word out that I am back.

Bored Now.

The bad thing about politics is that it is, well, political. Politics can sure get you down. I am very tired of hearing everyone argue back and forth. It really doesn't matter who the president is. Think I'm kidding? It's the people in Congress and the system that need changing. Does anyone out there think that will ever happen?

On another note: IS THE BLOG FOUNDER OUT THERE?? I really don't have the time or the desire to keep doing this on my own. I prefer to spend time on The Former Runner.

Something We Can Agree On

Well, Obama is doing something we agree with. He is keeping certain policies concerning the War on Terror. This is a good thing, considering the security of the country is at stake. I think he realizes just how difficult these decisions are now that he gets an in depth intel briefing every day. Maybe he'll think twice before criticizing the decisions of President Bush from now on.

You know, I have been wondering something. When Bush was in office, all I heard was a lot of whining about how much the Iraq war was costing this country on a daily basis. And I certainly was none to happy about the first emergency stimulus package just before he left office, but this whole new spending spree just has me going practically insane. I'm losing my zen cool, if I had any to begin with. What blows my top completely off though, is that the same people who were so upset about Bush's spending are fine as long as the New Messiah is doing it. How hypocritical is that?

I am not the only one who thinks so. There are many of us who find this to be insane troll logic. As usual, Gateway Pundit is also of this view.

Of course, there seems to be a lot of hypocritical thinking on the left when it comes to the actions of their savior vs. the actions of President Bush. The MSM isn't going to point this out, because they are a big part of it. When will the insanity stop? I just want a government that works! I want a government that does it jobs without steling all I've worked for! I want a government that stays out of my daily life! I want a government who's elected officials obey and enforce the laws I must obey! It is so frustrating! UGH!

WE ARE HEADED DOWN THE WRONG PATH! THIS COUNTRY IS DYING! And, for some reason, only Michael Savage seems to have the guts to state this on his radio show.

Now, could you folks please comment on some of our more thoughtful posts? We really thought there would be some on the abortion ones. Did the picture of reality not draw enough attention or were you just in a state of shock?

I do not think there should be a cap on someone's pay. In our free market society, each business decides who gets paid what based on experience and performance. If you perform badly, you really should be fired, especially if the company is in such bad shape you need to accept this so-called bail-out money. And you should defintiely NOT get a bonus, but it is still up to the business. Now, am I frustrated with what these businesses are doing with this handout? YES, but there were no restrictions placed on this money and no one in congress even bothered to really look at the financial records of these businesses to decide if they were even worthy of this money. In a free market, businesses succeed and businesses fail. Businesses come and go. It happens. We should let it happen. They do not deserve a bottomless wallet.

I watched all of his events in the Olympics, but I have to ask, "Michael, what the heck were you thinking?" He has not actually admitted to smoking pot, though. What did he think a bong was for, looking cool? Please.

AGW TODAY SAYS: COUPLES who have more than two children are being “irresponsible” by creating an unbearable burden on the environment, the government’s green adviser has warned.

Jonathon Porritt, who chairs the government’s Sustainable Development Commission, says curbing population growth through contraception and abortion must be at the heart of policies to fight global warming. (emphasis mine) He says political leaders and green campaigners should stop dodging the issue of environmental harm caused by an expanding population.

A report by the commission, to be published next month, will say that governments must reduce population growth through better family planning.

“I am unapologetic about asking people to connect up their own responsibility for their total environmental footprint and how they decide to procreate and how many children they think are appropriate,” Porritt said.

Wow. When did we start living in China? I understand the whole contraception thing, but abortion? Abortion was never meant to be used as birth control. Support by the eugenics folks (aka Nazis) is what made abortion what it is today. And let's not forget the Freedom of Choice Act. Personally, I think it's better to just kills all the insane and unworthy adults rather than helpless babies. Now, who's going to decide who is unworthy and insane? I think John Porritt is. Can we kill him first?

Now, one may ask can you be pro-life, but be for the death penalty? My answer is yes. And I am for the death penalty. Why? Because an adult makes the choice to commit a crime for which he will be punished. That adult also knows the punishment, in some states, may be the death penalty. It is a conscious decision. An unborn baby is given no such choice.

With the inauguration coming up, I've been thinking about something- Racism. You see, I understand that electing the first black president of this country is an historic moment. Ok. It's been said. Must it be said over and over? Why do we still have racism in this country? We still have racism because of the great emphasis on things like "America's first black president" keep being tossed around. He's just a man. He's just the new president. He will be inaugurated like all of the presidents before him. If we stop emphasizing the differences, only then can we actually have a country that looks beyond the color of one's skin. Think about it.

Just for fun, I decided to sell 'Carbon Credits' on Ebay. I wanted to see if anyone would be stupid enough to buy one, or at least a certificate for carbon credits. The thought came to me after I read an article that the SF Airport will be setting up kiosks to sell carbon credits. You give them your itinerary and a credit card and they give you the notion that you're doing something good. Ha!

Good morning! I trust everyone had a nice and, hopefully, relaxing holiday? (Other than me.) Good. Now, let's get down to business. By now, we have all seen the countless stories on the news about the poor Palestinians and Israel's aggression against them. Waah. Has anyone seen a story about why Israel went into Gaza? Hmmm? It's not on the MSM. I found a small tidbit here and there in a few odd papers. One was even from a commentary in a UK paper. I'd give you links, but my hubby reformatted everything and I lost them. It's not important though. The reason should be obvious to you if you've been following the history between Hamas and Israel. I'll even give you a brief overview.

Israel left Gaza a few years ago (has it been that long already?) in order to prove to the world that they're not barbarians and the Palestinians are welcome to have their own "homeland". The point was to see if the PLO could actually restore order and run a country. Right. Hamas won the governmental election among the Palestinian people and, at the same time, refused to work with Israel on anything. They've kidnapped soldiers, tortured and killed them. Hamas also continually fires rockets into Israel, killing civilians AND brainwashes their children in school to be suicide bombers. Yeah, we love Hamas. They're doing such a great job. Meanwhile, "their people" are starving and jobless. Of course they blame this on Israel. What a bunch of crap!

I completely understand why Israel is tired of being pushed around. Keep attacking Israel, and they'll retaliate (and vice versa). The PLO and Hezballah see what Hamas has done and have no desire for self-destruction. They're sitting on the sidelines rooting for Israel! Hilarious! Israel has officially stated, "This is a war to the end." Good!

I say, "Go Israel go!"

Fireplace police on patrol; smoke can draw fine

The fireplace police descended on the Bay Area on Wednesday.

For the first time ever, residential fires are illegal under a new law, passed in July, that bans home burning on winter season Spare the Air days.

The first such ban took effect at noon. Seventy inspectors from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District planned to spend the day and evening patrolling residential neighborhoods, looking for telltale chimney wisps.

Violators will get warnings by mail. Repeat offenders face fines of as much as $2,000.

The fireplace police say they are determined to keep law and order in the living room.

"We're serious," said district spokeswoman Kristine Roselius. "This is a major health threat. The weather conditions are such that smoke is trapped closer to the ground and anyone with respiratory problems will have a hard time breathing."

With 1.4 million fireplaces in the Bay Area, Roselius said the district is hoping for voluntary compliance. It notes that wood burning produces about one-third of the particulate pollution on a typical winter night.

The district predicts as many as 20 Spare the Air days during the winter season, which air quality officials define as Nov. 1 through Feb. 28. That means it could be illegal to fire up the fireplace as often as one day in every six.

Similar bans have been in place in the San Joaquin Valley and in the Pacific Northwest for several years.

After the initial warning, repeat violators will face fines, some as high as four figures. In other no-burn districts, offenders have been permitted to do penance by attending "smoke school," similar to traffic school. But the Bay Area is a no-school zone.

The air quality district declared its Spare the Air Day because of what it called moderate levels of pollution all around the Bay Area. Moderate pollution is expected to remain today in the East Bay, the South Bay and the Santa Clara Valley regions, with good air quality in the North Bay and coastal regions. The district will decide by noon whether to extend the wood-burning ban.

The fireplace industry was seeing red about the prospect of more smoke-free days and nights.

"This is obviously something we're very concerned about," said Chris Caron, vice president of Duraflame, the Stockton-based purveyor of sawdust fireplace logs.

He said he hoped the new ban would not affect the fire log business and that Bay Area residents would burn even more logs on non-Spare the Air days.

"After (the district) gets through trying to scare everyone to death, we expect they will realize that people still want to burn in their fireplaces," Caron said.

He also said it was unfair to lump cleaner-burning sawdust-based logs with ordinary wood. And he said he was hoping for lots of cold, rainy, windy and miserable weather this winter.

"Bad weather is good for us," he said. "And good for air quality."

Rich Ventura, proprietor of Rich's Firewood of San Carlos, called the ban "a little excessive." Ventura sells oak fireplace wood for $400 a cord, a quantity of stacked wood that measures 4 by 4 by 8 feet.

"They should try education first - that would be a better way to go," he said. "If you build a fire properly, and get it really hot in a wood stove, there's very little smoke."

Tim Regan of San Francisco said he had already gotten his education and wouldn't be spending Wednesday night burning any of the firewood he was buying at the Safeway on Market Street for $18.

"The environment has to trump comfort," Regan said. "I'm sentimental about these things. A fireplace is so romantic, the curl of the smoke rising up - it's like Norman Rockwell. But I'm willing to make a concession to the planet's health and survival."

So, my question is, “When do I get mine?”

What do the responsible people get? I am never late on my payments. I do not take or use more credit than I need. I do not buy needless things just because I have a credit card. I do not have more than one credit card. I pay off my loans.

So, what do I get? Higher taxes to pay for those who are irresponsible with money. This is truly @#*%!! up!
