Calif. fugitive wanted on sex charges arrested at Canadian border
(11-16) 15:54 PST Sweetgrass, Mont. (AP) --
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers working at the port of entry here apprehended a Mexican national wanted in California on sex charges.
Israel Rosales-Garcia, 33, was held Tuesday after being refused entry into Canada at the adjacent Canadian port of Coutts, Customs and Border Protection said in a news release.
The agency said Rosales-Garcia presented fake identification to U.S. border officers at Sweetgrass, and they determined his true identity through an automated fingerprint identification system.
Rosales-Garcia is wanted by the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office in California on charges of kidnapping a child under the age of 14; lewd/lascivious acts with a child under 14; and intercourse with a 16-year-old. Bail was set at $200,000.
Rosales-Garcia has a previous conviction for possession, manufacture and sale of dangerous weapons.
He was traveling with another Mexican national with a criminal record, U.S. officials said. The two told officers they were traveling from Las Vegas to Indianapolis and had become lost, the officials said, adding that the men acknowledged living and working in the U.S. for at least 10 years without authorization.
Border Protection officers placed Rosales-Garcia with the Toole County Sheriff's Department, for eventual transfer to California.

Oakland car wash drug operation busted
(11-16) 06:44 PST OAKLAND -- Four men are facing federal drug and immigration charges for allegedly dealing methamphetamine and cocaine from an East Oakland car wash, authorities said.
Oakland police and federal Drug Enforcement Administration agents busted the operation Tuesday at Torres Car Wash at 1050 98th Avenue, which is run by Rodolfo Torres, 30, according to records filed in U.S. District Court.
Abraham Carmona, 35, Valentin Martinez, 19, and his brother, Juan Pedro Martinez-Mendez, 23, were each charged Wednesday with distributing more than 500 grams of methamphetamine and one kilogram of cocaine, aiding and abetting and possession of a firearm while in the United States illegally.
An undercover DEA agent met with Torres at his car wash and arranged to buy three pounds of methamphetamine and one kilogram of cocaine, Special Agent Leo Bondad wrote in an affidavit.
Several hours later, the agent met Torres, Carmona, Martinez, Martinez-Mendez at a nearby McDonald's parking lot. Carmona opened a hidden compartment in the passenger-side air bag of a Volkswagen Jetta and showed the undercover agent the drugs, the affidavit said.
All four men were then arrested by Oakland police. Officers found that both Torres and Carmona had semiautomatic handguns in their possession, authorities said. Two other handguns were found in a gray Ford truck driven by Martinez-Mendez, the affidavit said.
