SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!

Arizona memorial acknowledged to have some hurtful comments! FINALLY!!

Controversial statements on Arizona's 9/11 Memorial will be re-evaluated, but only after the Nov. 7 election, to take it out of the political arena, the chairman of the memorial commission said Friday.

Billy Shields acknowledged that some inscriptions on the two-week-old memorial at the state Capitol have been hurtful to military personnel and others.

A re-evaluation will address those concerns, he said, as well as the criticism that has been pouring in during the last week.

"I'll say that I'm sorry to anyone who was hurt by this," Shields said at a morning news conference. "That was never the intent."

Shields' comments were also laced with anger and bitterness at the accusations that have been slung at commission members over the past week. Attacks on the members' patriotism were wrong and misplaced, he said.

"Shame on those people for personally attacking the commissioners at their homes and in their workplaces," he said, adding that some members' employers received calls, demanding that the commission member be fired for participating in the memorial's creation.

Details of when the commission will next meet are not set, but Shields said it will happen after the election, to avoid what he called its "carnival" atmosphere.

On Monday, Republican gubernatorial candidate Len Munsil called for the memorial to be torn down and replaced with one that he deems more patriotic. Since then, critics have tried to link the memorial to Gov. Janet Napolitano, who appointed half of the commission members. Former Gov. Jane Hull appointed the other half before she left office in January 2003.

"I firmly believe this would not have been an issue if this were not a political year," said Shields, who has been a Napolitano supporter.

________________________________

A couple of items:

1. He acknowledges that the memorial was hurtful to some people...that is a start!

2. I never head ANYONE accusing them of being unpatriotic, the accusations that came around was that THEY were using it as an opportunity to take a shot politically at Bush and the WOT.

3. Anyone who made phone calls harassing these peoples employers MUST be dealt with in any legal manner possible. As well, if calls were made to peoples homes, those must be dealt with as well.

4. He is accusing us of making this an issue during an election cylce. Poor liberals .. waaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh the 5 year anniversary happened in an election cycle...boo freaking ho...this would have been JUST AS BIG AN ISSUE had it happened any other time, so that is where he is wrong!!!!!!!! We COULD turn it around on him and say he picked those inscriptions during an election year in an attempt to kill conservative thought...but then, we are better than that..no?

5. He is a supporter of Napolitano, no big surprise that he took as long as he did to issue an acknowledgement. Also explains why he didnt see the big deal..he is a liberal.

6. The power of the Conservative voice in the blogosphere rang LOUD and rang PROUD during this, thanks to everyone who kept on top of it...but lets not forget this issue needs to be resolved. I would give you an email address to send a letter to encouraging them to make sure the public is informed of when and where the meeting is to take place, but there is none on the website, so if someone has an email address, please let me know in the comments! BTW The 9/11 memorial page is here.

God bless America and God bless our troops, we continue to hold the families of the 9/11 attack in our prayers.

I have been asleep at the wheel on the 9/11 memorial

As I am sitting here reading the blogs and sipping my morning coffee, I was reminded by Flopping Aces that I have been asleep at the wheel.

There is an editorial in the Tucson Citizen about the memorial. The author attempts to blame this whole issue on Len Munsil trying to garner votes because he is behind in the polls. Let me italicise some pieces of the article, if you wish to read it in its entirety, go here.

A new monument meant to unite Arizonans in honoring the victims of 9/11 is instead being exploited to divide us.
Don't let it happen.

Ummm, how can you have a memorial to unite us (its stated purpose) when you have comments on it that DIVIDE US.

Really? What's insulting here is that those calling for the removal or revision of the monument have essentially accused anyone who dares disagree with them of being dishonorable, anti-American and unpatriotic.

REALLY? I havent heard one accusation of this. What I have heard is that its an insult to the Americans who died that day. Guilty conscience? Or just re-writing history like liberals do?

What's shameful is how Munsil and the state Republican Party are trying to inflame emotions on this issue and exploit the 9/11 tragedy in a blatant bid to boost Munsil's long-shot campaign for governor.

No ma'am, what is shameful is how Napolitano isnt addressing this, what is shameful is how you are trying to sweep it under the rug knowing the Governor made a GRAVE error in putting her stamp of approval on this. One has to wonder..where is Gov Napolitanos VETO rubber stamp when she REALLY needs it?

The Arizona Republican Party has already produced a two-minute Internet ad on the memorial flap, ending with the words "dishonorable" and "disrespectful" plastered in red across Napolitano's face.

Truth hurts ... doesnt it?

"I definitely take offense to someone questioning mine or anyone else's patriotism on this commission. Each of them . . . are being wrongly and horribly attacked, people who have done a true service to try to build a remembrance for 9/11," he said. (Shields..a Phoenix firefighter)

Noone has questioned your patriotism Mr Shields...I respect you TRIED to build a rememberance to 9/11 but instead you have built a lasting slap in the face to the american people who lost their lives that day.

The commission met more than 50 times over 3 1/2 years, he said.

REALLY?? Isnt it funny that not one person in Arizona knew about these meetings other than the comission? Isn't it funny that the majority of Arizonans had no clue there was even going to be a memorial until it was unveiled with great fanfare on 9/11/2006? What were you hiding...why didnt you do more to get the word out MR SHIELDS?

And waiting gives Arizonans who would like to participate in the debate a couple of months to do the one thing both Munsil and Napolitano agree they should do.
Visit the memorial themselves and make their own judgment.

Umm, I dont NEED to visit the memorial to be slapped in the face, thanks to the bloggers who have kept on top of this, I have seen the entirety of the monument....and all the love that is shown with the positive inscriptions is being overshadowed with the negative slap in the face to Americans. The commission has politicised this...by including irrelevant inscriptions and blaming america for the attack. No..my mind is made up.

The comments page reads like a classic testimony of how Conservatives feel over who Liberals blame. Comments such as the following:

Conservative:

Man how stupid can you be Anne? Really.

You think a monument to honor our dead, should include items that assign blame for their death to their own country? That is how you honor them?

I find it sad how you try to make being a conservative a bad thing in regard to this. Bad news for you, my mother is a "carved in stone" liberal and she agrees with Munsil.

It is an absolute disgrace, that a memorial designed to honor Americans killed by cowards should somehow include reasons that justify their deaths.

I could say more but you myopic, anti-American zeal would be impossible to reason with.

Do the right thing and honor those who need to be honored and place blame where it should be place....on the terrorists

Liberal:

don't know the lessons we learned that day. I learned several thousand. Among them:

1. Not only do irrational religious extremists exist but their actions may have a direct impact upon my life.

2. The Bush administration is more incompetent than I'd suspected.

3. The Port Authority of NY/NJ ****ed up the fireproofing requirements of the steel frame of the WTC.

4. The FDNY ****ed up with their inadequate and antiquated communications systems.

I don't know what "memorials" are/are not. This particular memorial is apparently supposed to be as quoted above.

NAMBLA? What the **** is wrong with your brain? Oh, I see the connection now - it's just like Laran, the Etruscan god of war.

Blame everyone BUT the terrorists and take it as a shot to blame Bush and America Oh btw...notice the language that was *'d out...cant respond intelligently so instead use fould language....nice

Conservative:

Nothing is wrong with my brain. I post to several blogs daily and NaMBLA is the topic of another one. I happened to be on their website reading their mission statement when you started your quotes of a website. So I simply posted that the demonstrate that just because a website states something, doesn't mean that it is true.

Beyond that, any memorial that is used to make a statement about blame, is not a memorial at all.

Point out the obvious...that its not a memorial but instead a lasting political statement.

Liberal:

My apologies fb. I forgot that you are unable to think outside the box or apply metaphor or analogie to anything.

Why I even bother replying to such a simpleton is beyond me.

Cant argue with it...pick up the ball and go home

Conservative:

I think the passion around this topic has to do with a person's definition of what a memorial is supposed to be. For me, I don't believe aspersions should be cast if you're going to call it a memorial. A gravestone is a memorial. Would it be fitting to put on a gravestone of somebody who died of heart disease, "HE DIED BECAUSE HE WAS FAT AND HE ATE TOO MUCH" ? You see, whether you believe that the person ate too much or not, a memorial isn't a fitting place for the comment. It would be considered by many to be an insult to the person's memory. So why would Denogean fail to see that it's a normal reaction for some people to be upset about the things written on the 9/11 "memorial"? Her article doesn't make sense unless you look at it politically (the same thing she's accusing Munsil of.)

Point out a prime example

Liberal

My take on this 9/11 memorial is that it is for the next and ensuing generations.

Things are still too rough and raw and most of us have our own context for the surrounding events. Future generations may not.

I've seen many historical public memorials inscribed with names and dates and, to me, they've mean next to nothing aside from some "some people died a long time ago".

Trivialise the point of view and remind the world that its not memorable or honorable unless you include politics

Conservative:

To allow these comments to stand on such a memorial is insulting to citizens, soldiers, the dead and their families. What happened to patriotism? Memorials should honor the dead and focus on positive topics. Social commentary on a memorial is chicken***t no matter how close to the truth it may be. We are all aware of the fact that up until that morning in September the US was living in somewhat of a lala land where we thought that sort of thing could never happen to us. We get it. But to put these "I told you so" comments on a memorial is really shameful and anyone who supports it should be ashamed of themselves. Leave the social commentary to the TV and newspapers.

Point out that politics has its place, and its not on a memorial meant to honor the people who were victims of a cowardly attack on innocent civilians

Liberal:

This "flap" is pure politics. It is to get a conservative constituency motivated and to the polls.

These same politians railing about what the memorial was and what the content was going to be had numerous opportunities to participate or object...I have no knowledge that any of them said anything prior to their comments of two weeks ago.

All of the comments were acceptable to the committee members and particulary the individual that suffered a loss on 9/11.

I am curious, do any of you folks even know what the memorial looks like?

Politicise it and blame America..btw...YES WE DO KNOW WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE...HAVENT YOU BEEN PAYING ATTENTION?

And it goes on.

Any questions?

Arizona memorial battle is not going away.........

Apparently the Arizona Commission is going to review the monument H/T Mackers-world

This is a little of what macker had to report:

This in from KVOA-TV in Tucson: due to the deluge of public protest, and also from the bloggers who brought the issue to the national forefront, the Arizona 9/11 Memorial Commission will meet in October to review the offending inscriptions for possible removal. This story hasn’t even hit The Rag (aka the Arizona Republic) yet. Gee I wonder why:

Its interesting to me that this whole thing got started from espressopundit...and I am struck by just HOW POWERFUL the blogosphere has become has a whole. Even the press is mentioning that conservative bloggers worldwide were up in arms about this.

So anyway, Janet Napolitano, Democrat, Arizona, was asked the following:

Asked whether she would have objected to any of the wording if she’d seen it beforehand, Napolitano demurred.
“You know what, guys, address those questions to the commission. The commission had hearings. The commission approved the memorial. Move on."

Um....cut and run Janet? Bask in the limelight, but let the heat get to be too much and you cut and run. Maybe that is why you dont want to participate with Len Munsil and Mr Nolan in the series of debates...you only wanted 3 debates, but here we are...you wanted the last one to be 3 weeks from the elections...and Munsil and Nolan called you on it. What are you afraid of Governor? That your hypocrisy and lying mouth will be left on display before you can smear your opponents? Guess what Madame Governor...start packing your bags and start collecting workers from the Home Depot..Moving day will soon be upon you.

I have been mulling all day a letter that I want to send to the Governor...I am still formulating it in my brain, but rest assured, I will post it when I finish thinking it through and send it.

So....for you Arizona voters out there, here is where I stand on voting in November

Arizona Memorial debate picking up more press......

Form the Arizona Daily Star

NOTE: I Am going to pick this article apart because it is partisan against Munsil...Anything in bold are my comments

Munsil: Inscriptions on 9/11 memorial an insult to America
By Paul Davenport
Associated Press Writer
Tucson, Arizona | Published: 09.26.2006
Republican gubernatorial candidate Len Munsil said the state's recently dedicated 9/11 memorial is an insult to America because of wording either included or omitted and that Democratic Gov. Janet Napolitano should tear it down.

Munsil said some memorial inscriptions on events of Sept. 11 implied "blame America" criticism, but Munsil reserved most of his fire for what he said should have been included but wasn't.

They convieniently leave out those 3 key phrases:

Phrase No. 1 -- “Let’s Roll”
Phrase No. 2 -- “United We Stand”
Phrase No. 3 -- “God Bless America"

Making it sound as if a different point of view should be added....when IN FACT it is the strongest reminders of american strength

The monument was sanctioned by the state but funded from private sources. It was dedicated Sept. 11, the five-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

The 54 laser-etched inscriptions that circle the structure include many from a Sept. 11, 2001, timeline, while others trace later events. Topics range from the deployment of 216 Arizona firefighters to the World Trade Center to speculation of foreknowledge of the attacks by the CIA and FBI.

And they leave out the slaps in the face of the military. They leave out the Tonken bay quote.

The monument was "supposedly put in place to remember the losses of 9/11, an evil attack on our nation that killed thousands of innocent Americans," Munsil said. "Instead it reminds us of American failings and American mistakes, real and imagined before and after 9/11. This memorial is a tribute to moral relativism."

Right below an inscription noting that President Bush addressed the nation the evening of Sept. 11, 2001, is one stating that an unidentified terrorist leader addressed the American people in 2004, Munsil said during a rally that followed several days of critical postings by conservative bloggers regarding the memorial.
"Only in the relativistic context of left-wing protesters holding 'Bush is a terrorist' signs do such inscriptions make any sense," said Munsil, the former head of a conservative Christian advocacy group.

Ok....why did the media feel it necessary to insert that? What is their angle? HINT: It has to do with the hate the liberals show to Christians.

"It explains why despite the outpouring of public prayer and the bipartisan singing of 'God Bless America' on the steps of the U.S. Capitol, there is not a single mention of God in this memorial. It explains why there are inscriptions raising conspiracy theories, like questions about whether the U.S. knew of these attacks and didn't prevent them."

DING DING DING....they leave this in there..guess what they just highlighted?

Munsil said parts of the memorial are fine but that the structure should be torn down and replaced with one that includes the phrases "Let's roll," "United We Stand" and "God Bless America."

OOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH there are the quotes!!!!! Better late then never huh?

Napolitano defended the memorial as a tribute to 9/11 victims and first-responders and said some inscriptions were being taken out of context.

"I'm just sorry that they're trying to politicize 9/11. That's just wrong," she said.

Does anyone but me wonder why the press didnt ask her WHY she said this?

Billy Shields, a Phoenix firefighters union leader who headed the memorial commission, said the inscriptions were historically accurate and were drawn from history or reflected at least some Arizonans' views. The criticism itself was tardy and troubling, he said.

Reflected at least SOME Arizonans views....guess what...NOT ALL ARIZONAN OR EVEN THE MAJORITY OF ARIZONAN VIEWS. Criticism was tardy? EH...they kept this thing relatively quiet until the unveiling...the commission knew EXACTLY what they were doing.

"The families are having a tough time dealing with this attack on the memorial," Shields said.

Which families? Because the families I know that were affected by 9/11 arent having a tough time dealing with anything BUT the attack the memorial has made on them!

Several relatives of U.S. military personnel killed in Iraq attended Munsil's rally and denounced the memorial.
___________________________________

And that is the end of it. No expounding on the facts, no contacting the relatives of US Military personnel (Which btw would be easy considering both the Luceros and the Zurheides are WELL known in the local media)

I think a VERY telling thing that is coming from this is the acknowledgement from AP that "Munsil said during a rally that followed several days of critical postings by conservative bloggers regarding the memorial."

Are you listening Janet? THE LIBERAL PRESS IN ARIZONA ARE UNDER YOUR CONTROL BUT WE HAVE THE STRONGER VOICE!!!!!!!!! The Blogospher is MUCH more powereful than ANY news media outlet.

Vote Len Munsil in November.

Munsil speaks out on 9/11 Memorial

“It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us -- that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion--that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain--that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom--that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

I am humbled and honored to be in the presence of these family members of heroes who paid the last, full measure of devotion to the United States of America. To the Luceros, Smiths, Zurheides and the Broomheads: We are grateful for your sacrifice and honored by your willingness to come here today and share your heartfelt and emotional response to this memorial.

Lincoln’s words at Gettysburg still inspire us nearly a century and a half later because they speak to the enduring principles of the United States of America – one nation, under God, freedom, government of the people.

Today we stand at a memorial that mocks these foundational principles. A memorial put in place supposedly to remember the losses of 9-11 – an evil attack on our nation that killed thousands of innocent Americans – instead reminds us of American failings and American mistakes, real and imagined, before and after 9-11.

This memorial is a tribute to moral relativism – it celebrates the inability to make moral distinctions between an ideology of hatred, bent on world domination and committed to killing innocent civilians, as compared to an ideology of freedom and hope, committed to government of the people, by the people and for the people. Imperfect, yes … yet always striving to be better.

This monument is the equivalent of a Pearl Harbor memorial that focused primarily on Japanese internment camps. It is not just a question of historical accuracy; it is also a question of judgment, critical thinking and the ability to make moral distinctions.

There is a reason that a firestorm has developed around this memorial – why so many of you have come here on a work day with less than a day’s notice. It is because most Americans, and most Arizonans, are still able to make those moral distinctions.

I got an email this morning. It says, “Len, I’m a former New Yorker, now living in Glendale. On 9-11 my brother, a New York City fireman was killed. My life long buddy, who worked on the 104th floor, was killed also. Being a family member of someone who was killed on 9-11, I was invited to attend the ceremony in Phoenix on 9-11. The ceremony was very beautiful. The memorial inscriptions made my stomach turn.”

… “To me political correctness was part of the reason 9-11 happened … and now it’s added to a 9-11 memorial? Why? The memorial has become someone’s political agenda. Whose I do not know. I’m not happy … it makes my stomach turn.”

I think this reaction is typical of many family members of those who were lost on 9-11.

The fact that Janet Napolitano is on record saying she commissioned this memorial, that she said just last Friday that it is a “great” memorial, that she was quoted in the newspaper applauding the memorial for “reaffirming the history” of 9-11, that she calls it “unique, bold, dynamic and educational” – all of this is evidence of a Governor so far into the ideology of “blame America first” that she did not even notice how politicized this memorial is.

This Governor does not get it. She does not understand the nature of our opponent or the gravity of the war we are in. Her support for this memorial, along with her failure to secure the borders of our state five years after 9-11, is evidence that she cannot be trusted to take seriously the threats to the security of the people of our state and of our nation.

As I have said from the beginning of this campaign, the Governor is far out of the mainstream in Arizona, and this is just one more example.

The artists behind this exhibit have made it very clear where they were coming from, by saying in an interview that they wanted to remind future generations that following 9-11 we were misled into war.

That explains a lot about the worldview behind this memorial. It explains why the President of the United States is not named in the memorial, but is noted only for addressing the nation. Right below the reference to the president is an inscription that a terrorist leader also addressed the people of the United States. The president of the U.S. and a terrorist leader, both unnamed, both speak to the people of the United States.

Only in the relativistic context of left-wing protesters holding “Bush is a terrorist” signs do such inscriptions make sense.

It explains why, despite the outpouring of public prayer and the bipartisan singing of “God Bless America” on the steps of the U.S. Capitol, there is not a single mention of God in this memorial.

It explains why there are inscriptions raising conspiracy theory-like questions about whether the U.S. knew about these attacks and didn’t prevent them.

We are in a political season and I am running for a political office. But I have a long record of standing up for core American values, and for our military.

Ten years ago the Phoenix Art Museum brought to Arizona an exhibit dedicated to the desecration of the American flag. With dozens of veterans protesting outside the exhibit, I was the lone conservative who entered into a debate inside the Phoenix Art Museum to challenge their decision to depict the American flag in a toilet, on fire, and on the floor to be trampled upon. I am not new to the battle over these ideas.

I will say today what I said then – in America we have many freedoms, freedoms not available to those who live in many other countries. Here the question is not “can we” but “should we”?

Should we denigrate the sacrifices of those who were killed in a cowardly attack, and those who fought the war on terror, by using a memorial like this to attack the American military and raise questions about American culpability in 9-11?

The answer to me is clear. We should not.

Yes, there are elements of the memorial that are fine, that should be kept. But as a whole, this monument is an insult to patriotic Americans.

So today I challenge Janet Napolitano – if you care about veterans, if you care about the families who suffered loss on 9-11, and the families here today who suffered loss as a direct result of their noble response to 9-11 – if you care about America’s standing in the world -- tear down this monument!

(LOUD SUSTAINED APPLAUSE)

And if you won’t do it, I will. As Governor, I will raise the money to put up a real monument to the victims of 9-11, a monument that will include different phrases and inscriptions:

The new monument will include at least these three phrases from 9-11 that are missing here:

Phrase No. 1 -- “Let’s Roll” (APPLAUSE)
Phrase No. 2 -- “United We Stand” and (APPLAUSE)
Phrase No. 3 -- “God Bless America" (APPLAUSE)

Thank you for being here today and God bless you, may God bless Arizona, and may God bless America.

Taken from Len Munsils website

This man .. this patriot .. who welcome the very people that I have come to know and love like my own family, the Luceros and the Zurheides, has spoken up FINALLY for true core american conservative values.

This man has my vote in November.

Flopping Aces is also offering commentary on Munsil speech today.

9/11 Arizona memorial battle heats up

Apparently more and more people are taking notice of the memorial that Governor Napolitano gave her nod and approval to in Phoenix. Flopping Aces has updated and now Drudge is involved. Once Drudge is involved, you know its getting notice. This ladies and gentleman, is the power of the blogosphere illustrated in its finest form and fashion.

Here are some of the inscriptions on the memorial, in bold. Italics are my comments.

“You don’t win battles of terrorism with more battles.”

Nah, you do what the left does and lay down and take it up the poop shoot.

“Congress questions why CIA and FBI didn’t prevent attacks.”

What a nice way to remember the 3000+ Americans who died that day huh?

“Erroneous US air strike kills 46 Uruzgan civilians”

How about an inscription that reads, "Islamofascists declare war on America by killing 3000+ innocent civilians?

There is outrage amongst the bloggers who see this memorial as a slap in the face..I am included. They (the left) have taken an opportunity to show class and restraint and turned it into a political message, typical.

Even politicians are now getting involved, according to an article in a Phoenix newspaper, Rep Russell Pearce, R-Mesa said, "To politicize it to me is absolutely outrageous, instead of a memorial to remember those who have sacrificed their lives"

That is hitting the nail on the head.

“Feeling of invincibility lost”

Did we really feel invincible? NO, we never have, but what we did feel was that we could enjoy our freedoms without fear of having some mullah ram a jet into a high-rise and bring it down killing 3000+ americans.

Michelle Malkin is even now on board with this issue, as she said on her site, "Five years after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, we must remain as vigilant as ever against those who would exploit jihadi acts of war and mass murder as opportunities to erect literal Guilt Complexes on American soil. They tried it at Ground Zero. They tried it at Shanksville. They succeeded in Arizona."

Naplitano revealed herself as an appeaser of Islam, taking time to shroud herself in a vail to show "Cultural unity" Nothing like degrading yourself for a few votes...eh Governor?

I am trying to upload a picture to blogger here, but apparently they are having problems, so see the post over at Stickenstein.

All in all, sickening and a moral outrage. I encourage everyone to write the Governor and let her know your outrage!!!!!!!!!!!

Warning...Graphic language and content ahead

Ok...so I just got through viewing this video on youtube WARNING GRAPHIC CONTENT The video deals with the execution of Hatefeh...a 16 you Iranian girl who was accused of "Crimes of chastity" If you watch the full 48 minute video you will see the circumstances leading up to this and see its devastating effects on the people left to wondery why.

The Iranian government under Isalamic law forbids a girl from having sex outside marriage at ALL..including Rape. If they are raped, its a crime of chastity and they are executed. This my friends, is straight the fuck up BULLSHIT and I am PISSED. These mullahs make it a total mans world by suppressing and holding back woman. But wait..it gets better.

The age of consent in Iran..and marriage is 9 years old. Let me repeat that 9 YEARS OLD. From what I can gleen, this is the age of the prophet Mohammeds wife. Ahem......FUCKING PEDOPHILE PIGS.

All of this is sanctioned under the guise of religion, FANATICAL religion. I want know, where is the outrage from the left about this? I realise this case is 2 years old, but we still havent head much, if anything, from the left on this.

Instead we hear things like what I saw posted on a website recently, "There are millions of Radical Fundamentalist Christians who hate America and Americans. They want to end our lives and our way of life and will do anything to accomplish these goals. They don’t want to communicate with us or convert us they just want us dead." This was in response to a posting about the Islamofascists. SO instead of dealing with the issue like they should, they instead redirect their hatred towards Christianity.

This all comes around to a case pending right now in Iran. The case involves a girl named Malak Ghorbany who is to be stoned to death for "Adultery" Read the following letter:
Dear friends,

Once again, another Iranian woman has been sentenced to death by the barbaric practice of public stoning. On June 28, 2006, a court in the northwestern Iranian city of Urmia sentenced Malak Ghorbany to death for committing "adultery." Under Iran's Penal Code, the term "adultery" is used to describe any intimate or sexual act between a man and a girl/woman who are not married. The crime of adultery is also used in cases where a girl is deemed to have committed "acts incompatible with chastity," which includes instances of rape. The punishment for "adultery" is death.

On the day of her punishment, the woman's hands are tied behind her back as she becomes covered from head to toe in winding sheets and is placed seated in a pit. The pit is then filled up to her chest with dirt and the dirt is tamped down. At that point, members of the community are invited to murder her by hurling rocks at her. However, to ensure that the condemned woman/girl receives the absolute maximum amount of pain and torture, the Iranian government has even mandated the size of the stones that are to be used in this barbaric act of public execution. By law, the stones must not be too small as to prevent ultimate death, nor must they be too large that they could cause the girl's death "too soon."

The Committee for the Defense of Human Rights of Iranian Kurdistan has issued a statement to save the life of Malak Ghorbany, and I have initiated a petition, directed to members of the United Nations, Amnesty International, the ruling clerics in Iran, and various other organizations and entities around the world to oppose Malak's barbaric sentence. I need you to help me save Malak's life, as we did with the 17 year old Nazanin, by signing this petition and raising as much awareness as possible to her case. Without significant international pressure and expressions of outrage at the atrocities committed by the Isalmic regime, Iranians will continue to be subjected to medieval practices that violate the most basic rights of humans.

I thank you for your support, friendship, and kindness, and I look forward to a day when no woman is abused, tortured, or murdered simply because of her gender.

Fondly,

Lily Mazahery

I encourage you to go to this website and help by following the advice written on the bottom of the page.

These Mullahs MUST be taken out, in rapid fashion. While Ahmadinijad thumbs his nose at the world and the UN sits with its collective thumbs up their butts doing nothing, people, innocent woman and girls, are losing their lives.

Stand up and do something about it!!

Fun with the Governors office

So I sent this letter to the governor yesterday, took a while, but I got this automated response in my mailbox:

Dear Constituent,
Thank you for contacting the office of Governor Napolitano.
Below is the information you provided to the Governor. Your email has
been forwarded on for review and someone will be getting back to you in
the near future, if needed.

Your Honor,

I was shocked and dismayed at your tacit approval of the memorial in
Phoenix of the tragic events of 9/11. I was shocked to discover that
you
gave your nod and encouragement to this slap in the face of the people
of
Arizona, our military and the people of the United States of America.

Why is this memorial shaped like a crescent? Is it a tribute to the
islamofascists who committed this heinous crime? One could certainly
draw
that conclusion based on what is inscribed in the memorial with
denegrations of our military!

This memorial is a disgraceful reminder and example of the blame
America
first mentality that has crippled the Democratic party and is typical
of
the liberal mentality that has taken root since the Vietnam war.

Let me ask you Governor, if you had been our leader during Pearl
Harbor,
would have erected a facsimile of a japanese zero exploding into a ship
with a list of apologies for disgracing the japanese because of our
views
on democracy and freedom? Maybe an apology and a "there there" because
they sunk the battleship Arizona?

The power of the voice of the people through the blogosphere and other
alternative means of media are not under your control, and there is a
rising up of people who have said enough with your rubber stamp veto
and
anti-american attitude. I am a voter Madame Governor, and my vote in
November will not be for you, it will be for the constituency that you
so
wholely ignore...conservatives.

Respectfully yours,

Thank you for filling out the form. You will hear back from one of our
staff in the near future.

Ok...are the people in the Governors office educated or retarded? Notice how it starts out:

Your email has been forwarded on for review and someone will be getting back to you in the near future, if needed.

Then at the bottom it says:

Thank you for filling out the form. You will hear back from one of our
staff in the near future.

It struck me that the 2 statements are directly contradictory to one another referencing the same subject. Go figure that the staff at the Governors office suffer from the same symptoms as ole liberal FrankenKERRY ... You know...I voted for it before I voted against it!

So I am left wondering (and this is a RHETORICAL question) am I am or is I not?

I think I is not.

Letters to the governor

Let me preface this by saying I am sickened and dismayed by the Arizona memorial to 9/11 located in downtown Phoenix. Surprisingly, I first heard about this from Flopping Aces and included a link to it in last nights what others are saying. This memorial is a slap in the face, and as I have been sitting here thinking about it I was motivated to email the governors office with the following:

Your Honor,

Libralism Is A Mental Disorders Recommended voting

Here is what I recommend in voting..and why.

Propositions:

Prop 100: Bailable Offense - YES

What it would do: Prevents those charged with serious felonies from being eligible for bail if they are in the country illegally.

This makes sense, if you release them on bail, they WILL run.

PROP. 101 -- LOCAL PROPERTY-TAX LEVIES - YES

What it would do: Known as the 2006 Taxpayer Protection Act, it would require the levy limit for cities, towns, counties and community college districts, to be calculated from the 2005 actual tax levy.

Force the city lawmakers and managers to better spend the money they are given, don't penalise homeowners for living the american dream

PROP. 102 -- STANDING IN CIVIL ACTIONS - YES

What it would do: Blocks undocumented immigrants from being able to obtain punitive damages in lawsuits. Limits awards to actual damages.

I am reminded of that case where the farmer had to give up his land to an illegal alien because of something that happened (Cant recall what it was) If you are here illegaly.....YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS BECAUSE YOU ARE A LAW BREAKER

PROP. 103 -- OFFICIAL ENGLISH - YES

The issue: English as the Official Language. Would require state government to take all formal action in English. Includes many exemptions, such as for legal proceedings.

Backers include Republican Rep. Russell Pearce of Mesa and the Arizona Farm Bureau Federation. Opponents include the Coalition for Latino Political Action. I say learn english if you are going to be in my country, that is the language I speak!

PROP. 104 -- MUNICIPAL DEBT - YES

What it would do: Allows municipalities to raise debt capacity for street and public-safety projects. It would rise to 20 percent from 6 of assessed property valuation.

It would not raise a community's level of indebtedness but would allow greater flexibility in financing streets and public-safety projects. Voters would have to approve projects before the debt could be incurred.

PROP. 105 -- TRUST LAND - UNDECIDED

The issue: State Trust Lands. Would preserve almost 43,000 acres of state trust land and give the Legislature the option to set aside 400,000 more acres.

This is a tricky one....I havent quite decided on it...on the 1 hand it preserves the trust land, on the other, it gives politicians an incentive to line their pockets with money by leaving the decision to how to use this land up to them. Comments?

PROP. 106 -- TRUST LAND - UNDECIDED

The issue: Conserving Arizona's Future. Would preserve 694,000 acres of state trust land across Arizona.

Same as above, undecided...Comments?

PROP. 107 -- MARRIAGE - YES

The issue: The Protect Marriage Initiative would amend the state Constitution to ban same-sex unions.

Why does this even need to be put to the voters? Support family and traditional marriage!!!!

PROP. 200 -- ELECTIONS - NO

The issue: AZ Voter Reward Act. Would create a lottery with a $1 million prize for people who vote in the primary or general election. It would be funded through unclaimed state lottery prizes.

Why entice people to vote? Its a civic duty and responsibility...if someone doesnt vote, then its probably a good thing, because they REALLY dont care..right?

PROP. 201 -- SMOKING - NO

The issue: Smoke-Free Arizona Act. Prohibits smoking in most indoor public places, including restaurants and bars. Exceptions include tobacco shops, outdoor patios and some hotel rooms.

Nothing really needs to be said here...prop 201 creates another layer of beauracracy which needs to be funded through YOUR tax dollars (regardless of what they say about it being funded by a 2 cents per pack price increase) Do we REALLY need more government running every aspect of our lives? Whether you are a smoker or not, the one thing you have to ask yourself is...why set precedence? Think about that...first smoking, then food, then your guns, then your free speech (Its happening right now in New York!)

PROP. 202 -- MINIMUM WAGE - NO

The issue: Arizona Minimum Wage Coalition. Would raise the minimum wage in Arizona from $5.15 to $6.75 per hour starting in 2007, adjusted thereafter for cost of living.

Though the arguments against this say that it will bankrupt small business and retard economic growth, and I agree with the No part...I disagree with the reasoning for a no. My reasoning is that if you dont have the skills, you will pay the price in working for minimum wage. Increasing it just creates another layer of welfare and another excuse to not better yourself...this is AMERICA, free enterprise, freedom to decide what you want to do etc.

PROP. 203 -- PRESCHOOL EDUCATION - NO

The issue: First Things First for Arizona's Children. Would add 80 cents per pack of cigarettes to fund preschool programs, health screenings and other services, mostly targeted to children living in poverty. Local councils and a state board would oversee funds.

This is penalising a small segment of the population (Smokers) with something that isnt even related! It also encourages those who are to act irresponsibly to continue their wreckless actions. UNLESS YOU CAN SUPPORT A CHILD.....DONT BRING ONE INTO THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!! WE WILL NOT CONTINUE TO FEED AND HOUSE AND CLOTHE YOU WHILE YOU SIT ON YOUR ASS!!!!!!!!

PROP. 204 -- ANIMALS - NO

The issue: Humane Treatment of Farm Animals Act. Would require that pregnant pigs and calves raised for veal be given sufficient space to turn around, lie down and fully extend their limbs.

Simply put....I like my pork to be cheap...thanks but no thanks

PROP. 205 -- YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE - NO

What it would do: All registered voters would automatically be sent mail-in ballots before every election.

BAD IDEA!!! This will negate the voter ID requirement and make it easier for the dead and illegal to vote.

PROP. 206 -- SMOKING - NO

The issue: Non-Smoker Protection Act. Would ban smoking in some indoor public places. Exceptions include bars and separately ventilated bars within restaurants and other establishments.

This is being touted as a "Reasonable alternative" to prop 201...the truth..THEY BOTH Create MORE BEAURACRACY AND GOVERNMENT INTRUSION IN THE LIVES OF A BUSINESS OWNER...see what I said about Prop 201

PROP. 207 -- PRIVATE PROPERTY - YES

The issue: Private Property Rights Protection Act. Would restrict cities' use of eminent domain and require governments to compensate property owners when decisions reduce property values.

Ever since the Kelo Vs New London case this issue needs to be resolved. Restrict the governments ability to take your hard earned property!

PROP. 300 -- IMMIGRATION - YES

The issue: The referendum deals with public programs and undocumented immigrants.

The impact: It would block undocumented immigrants from accessing state-subsidized programs for adult education and childcare, among other things.

Even though Prop 200 covers this, apparently we need to send a message again..STOP SUPPORTING ILLEGALS WITH MY TAX DOLLARS!!!!!!!!

PROP. 301 -- PROBATION FOR METH OFFENSES - YES

What it would do: Requires that those convicted of using or possessing meth or meth-related paraphernalia be ineligible for probation under certain circumstances.

ZERO TOLERANCE for drug use....need I say more?

PROP. 302 -- LEGISLATORS' SALARIES - NO

What it would do: Increases state legislators' annual salaries 50 percent, to $36,000 from $24,000.

To the politicians that I know...sorry..you get kickbacks from special interests, stop doing that and owning your million dollar home and driving your Mercedes on a 24k salary and ask again.

Governor - Len Munsil (R)
Congress CD8 - Randy Graf (R)
Secretary of State - I have to comment on this, I really had to take a good long hard look at the Democratic candidate, Israel Torres, my decision was made today when I sat down and read the clean election voter guide, where he says, "As a former member of Governor Napolitanos cabinet and having served as your Arizona registrar of contractors..." I was hooked....my recommendation, Jan Brewer (R)
Attorney General - William Montgomery (R)
Treasurer - Dean Martin (R)
Superintendant of Public Instruction - This one is another that I have to comment on, I was really interested in Jason Williams (D) he worked in Oakland, where I am from, but he touts his record as being nominated for Californias middle school teacher of the year award, I had to laugh because I remembered him then, and his school was the lowest performing in the district. So..my recommendation - Tom Horne (R)
Mine Inspector - Joe Hart (R) Only candidate running
Corporation Commissioner - Gary Pierce (R)
State Senator District 1 - Tom O'Halleran (R)
State Senator District 2 - Royce Jenkins (R)
State Senator District 3 - Ron Gould (R)
State Senator District 4 - Ed Gogek (D)
State Senator District 5 - Jake Flake (R)
State Senator District 6 - Pamela Gorman (R)
State Senator District 7 - James Waring (R)
State Senator District 8 - I dont like either candidate, you're on your own here :)
State Senator District 9 - Robert Burns (R)
State Senator District 10 - Linda Gray (R)
State Senator District 11 - Barbara Leff (R)
State Senator District 12 - Robert Blendu (R) Only candidate running
State Senator District 13 - Richard Miranda (D) Only candidate running
State Senator District 14 - Debbie McCune Daivs (D) Only candidate running
State Senator District 15 - The democrat is running on a "Progressive" ticket..meaning liberal, didnt even finish researching him, my recommendation Andrew Smigielski (R)
State Senator District 16 - Daniel Veres (R)
State Senator District 17 - Meg Burton Cahill (D)
State Senator District 18 - Karen Johnson (R)
State Senator District 19 - Chuck Gray (R)
State Senator District 20 - John Huppenthal (R)- note..I had recommended the Democratic candidate but change my recommendation based on her statements here.
State Senator District 21 - Jay Tibshraeny (R) Only candidate running
State Senator District 22 - Thayer Verschoor (R)
State Senator District 23 - Cheryl Chase (R) Side note: The democratic candidate is HOT!! lol
State Senator District 24 - Russell Jones (R)
State Senator District 25 - Mary Ann Black (R)
State Senator District 26 - Charlene Pesquiera (D)
State Senator District 27 - Jorge Luis Garcia (D) Only candidate running
State Senator District 28 - Paula Aboud (D) Only candidate running
State Senator District 29 - Victore Soltero (D) Only candidate running
State Senator District 30 - Tim Bee (R)

(Other candidates as I research them and make my choices)

Bin Laden loves lefties

This morning I am driving to my first job of the day for work (I am in the field, I LOVE it...lots of independance) Anyway, I have to take a detour for some road construction and go out of my way to get back on the street I needed to be on. Making a left turn onto that street, I saw a woman across the way holding a sign, one side said "No War" and the other said "No blood for oil" I pulled into a parking lot across the street and made a phone call to my friend ... I tell her about this moonbat and she says, oh yeah...shes out there again huh? That is Gretchen, she was out there last week, some other people saw her and joined her.

I told my friend that if she brought some flags and signs, I would hang around til Gretchen left, she said u betcha, hung up the phone and 15 mins later was on scene. Gretchen, however; was packing it in. The whole time I stood across the street she got MAYBE 3 honks of approval for her signs. My friend and I decided that we would go over there and stand where Gretchen could see us and hold up our signs. We hadnt even begun to cross the street when the honks and shouts of approval started...4 honks before we even made it to the other side...welp...so much for Gretchens "majority"

Arriving on the sidewalk, my friend and I spread out so that Gretchen could see us and flags from whichever side she looked, she was talking to a man who had been there with her for the last 5 mins and she begun pointing at us and got a really UGLY look on her face...so much for her peace and harmony.

My friend made a point to hold her sign that says "Bin Laden Loves Lefties" towards Gretchen who looked at it with disgust and continued talking to her fellow loonie.

Honks and waves were plenty for us...I lost count at 30 within 5 mins. The clincher of this and the support is that we were NOWHERE near the base and were out in the outskirts of Tucson. Heh...I think that proves something...dont you?

As Gretchen backed out of her parking spot my friend yelled over, "You will NOT go unanswered" and she just stared at us, contempt in her eyes. I yelled out "Come on Gretchen, give us a honk for the troops who give you your rights" Still nothing, except a surprised look that I knew her name. As she pulled away, pretty pissed off, I yelled out, "1.3 MILLION VOLUNTEERS TO KEEP AMERICA FREE!!!!!!!!"

My friend and I stuck around for a few minutes, packed up and went back to our cars. She gave me a flag and a sign to keep in case I ran across the loonies again and I went on my way.....satisfied that we had made our point.

It was SUCH a good day!!!!!!!!! :)

Letters to the Pope

I am not Catholic...I do not agree with a lot of the tenets of the Catholic view of faith .. however; I stand in support of The Pope in his comments regarding Muslims.

I sent the following email to him:

Date: Sun, 17 Sep 2006 09:49:22 -0700 (PDT)
From: "XXXXXX XXXXXXX"
Subject: Your eminence
To: benedictxvi@vatican.va
Dear Eminence,

I stand with you as a non-denominational Christian in
support of the speech you made bringing up the
historical accuracy of the religion of Islam.

It is unfortunate that these radicals have centered
and focused on the part of the speech that raises the
truth about the ideology that they subscribe to. What
you have said is the truth, and you are demonstrating
what Jesus taught us in the bible about being truthful
and exposing evil at all times.

I am praying for protection for you and my prayers
contain encouragement for you to stand steadfast in
the face of the enemy. I am reminded of the writings
of Paul and pray that you will take his advice in
protecting yourself against the fascists of the
islamic religions:

Ephesians 6

10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty
power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can
take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12For our
struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against
the rulers, against the authorities, against the
powers of this dark world and against the spiritual
forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13Therefore put
on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil
comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after
you have done everything, to stand. 14Stand firm then,
with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with
the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15and with
your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from
the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this, take
up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish
all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Take the
helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which
is the word of God. 18And pray in the Spirit on all
occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With
this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for
all the saints.

Paul goes on: 19Pray also for me, that whenever I open
my mouth, words may be given me so that I will
fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20for
which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may
declare it fearlessly, as I should.

And I pray that you will find strength in this..stand
firm your eminence! The truth of the gospel of our
lord and savior Jesus Christ will keep you safe!

Love your brother in Christ almighty,

Sunday Morning

As I sit here on this bright and lovely September Sunday morning in Tucson, AZ, I look outside my window and see the bright new promise of hope in a new day. Readying myself to take on the day (Usually with coffee) I peruse the latest news and information .. purposely I get up 2 hours prior to when I really should to be able to do this.

Perusing the blogs of conservatives I went to Michelle Malkin for the first time in a while, just because all the rest of the blogs I read have not updated yet. Perusing the articles I ran across this little gem that got my blood boiling for the morning.

It seems that the lefty organisation the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) has been sending people to "the training fields of the West Bank and Gaza to learn from terrorists and to aid them logistically." Read it, what a way to anger yourself for the day.

Michelle has also linked up with the Iraqi Truth Project which features a film called Weapon of Mass Destruction The Murderous Reign of Sadaam Hussein. I had viewed this masterpiece of a documentary about 5 months ago when a friend lent it to me, and let me tell you, it opens your eyes to just how brutal Hussein was. It is definitely worth watching. I would love to see this broadcast on the lefty dominated public access channel here in Tuson, dollars to doughnuts station management wouldnt let it air or they would give it a time slot in the middle of the night.

The birds are singing, the ground is warming, its another bright beautiful day that God has blessed me with...with my adrenaline kicked in for the day I bid you good day.

Alejo Perez was 66 and worked for Windows on the World, a restaurant in the WTC, on the kitchen staff, with 41 other people, it is unknown specifically what he did.

Living in Union City, NJ one can imagine Alejo making his way to work every day using the subways. His nationality is listed as Dominican Republic, according to United in Memory, he was born there and immigrated to the United States. According to this same website, he was an american citizen. His quilt piece can be found at the above link under his name, this website would not let me download a copy of the picture of it.

Not much information could be found on Mr Perez specifically. According to memorials on legacy.com he was a "friend, a father and a husband" and had friends all over the country. Some of the memorials to him on this page were:

Alejo,

Prayers are with you and your family during this holiday season. God bless.
Tom (Beach Haven, NJ )

Alejo,
savemos que estas en el cielo junto a nuestro dios Jesus Cristo. Somos Perez y Perez seremos. Que dios the bendiga y te guarde en el cielo.
Jose Perez (Fort Bragg,, NC )
Which loosely translated is "I move away (meaning the author and the subject have been seperated) and you are in heaven with God Jesus Christ, we are brothers and brothers we will be God bless you and keep you in heaven.

This past weekend, Lubbock held a huge 9-11 Memorial with 3,412 American flags displayed in Kastman Park for 3 days. The Tribute was attended by thousands. At the close of the event, the flags were sold for $25.00 each, funds going for nursing scholarships. I bought a flag, and my tribute card was for Alejo Perez. I wanted to know about
him, and found this information on the web. I was in Boston on 9-11-01 and it was a chilling experience. I will fly this flag in Alejo's honor most proudly on patriotic holidays, and will never forget his name. Carol Mitchell Lee, Lubbock, Texas

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

As you can see, Alejo had friends stretching from coast to coast, family too. I like the fact that his nickname was "Chiche" I asked around and none of my hispanic speaking friends could come up with a translation.

As I wrote this article and learned a little bit more about the man name Alejo "Chiche" Perez I couldnt help but feel a sense of pride that this man had touched many lives, I was offered a brief glimpse into his life and I am blessed for it. I shed more than one tear reading and pasting and letting it sink in.

He must have had a real special knack for being someone who you could love and call a friend because now that I have completed this, in a way, I feel like his friend. I have no doubt that had I known this man when he was alive, I would have had respect and admiration for him.

Alejo Perez was one of the 2996 people killed on 9/11/2001 His memory will not fade and We will never forget.

God rest you Mr Perez, you were an innocent victim of a vicious cowardly attack, the american people love you and honor your memory.

Living in Robot City has another tribute to Mr Perez (I was the 2nd blogger assigned to him, Robot City got the first one.

Its a great day for democracy

Flashback, Saturday September 10, 2005

The Southern Arizona Chapter of Protestwarrior begins supporting our troops at the front gate of Davis Monthan AFB. 4 men from Tucson with the love of our troops and the need to do the right thing gather flags and handmade signs and stand on the corner of Craycroft and Golf Links in the summer sun. As seen from the pictures here at Speed of Thought it was a small humble thing to do.

As we spent more time out there, our numbers grew, with more people signing on to join us. There were weeks when only a couple of us would be there, but we stuck with it. In a fortunate turn of events, Wayne, from Americanprotest.net joined protestwarrior and advised of the need for help at the recruting center on Speedway every Wednesday morning.

This turned to me being introduced to a woman who is a master planner named Pat. She was the organiser of Wednesday mornings. Expressing to her my operations at the main gate of Davis Monthan she unabashedly pledged support and people. On that first Saturday following, she arrived with several people in tow. There were 2 special families who were a part of her contingent, the Luceros and the Zurheides. Both of these families are goldstar families, both had lost their sons to roadside bombs in Iraq in 2004, and both of these families made a pledge that their sons loss would NOT be in vain.

The day was a complete success. And I couldnt do enough to express my gratitude to all of them for their support. Since that first day, they have been there faithfully standing in support of our brave men and woman who fight and defend our freedoms and protect people worldwide.

Today, I stood on that same corner that only occupied 4 people 1 year ago with not 10, not 15 and not even 30 people, but I stood there with over 75 americans who wanted to come out today to show our support for the troops.

As a result of emailings to the southern Arizona chapter of ProtestWarrior, the email list maintained by Pat, the Pima County Republican party, we had a festive and colorful morning with all 4 corners filled to capacity with people with signs, flags and hearts of gold waving and thanking the troops. Everyone was represented, black, white, hispanic, asian, male, female, old, young, politicians and everything in between.

The streets surrounding the area were a symphony of horns and cheering. At points in the morning you literally could not hear yourself think due to the noise. We had 2 F-16s fly over our positions wag their wings at us and saluted us for our efforts. But it was not us who deserved their praise, it is they who deserved our undying gratitude. If only one soldier on that base was uplifted, if only 1 family member knows that the american people care and support them, if only 1 child knows that people who dont know them love them, then our mission today was a success.

There was a japanese film crew on the scene, doing a documentary of the support of the troops, and more specifically on the effects the loss of their son had on the Luceros. They filmed, asked questions, interviewed people and they are taking that footage back to Japan to televise a program on americans attitudes towards the troops and the war. As it turns out, the Japanese people are rock hard supporters of our movement to spread democracy. As well, I know there was a photographer from one of the local newspapers there taking pictures, keep your eyes peeled.

As I stood there holding an american flag on a vantage point higher up on the corner, I surveyed the scene before me and reflected on the past year. There have been fun times, there has been sad times, there has been pain, there has been sorrow, there has been laughs and there has been an overwhelming sense of belonging, of doing something to make a difference in peoples lives. Not only has each and every person out there been active in counter demonstrations, but each and every person has taken an active role in the democratic process by voting, writing letters, making phone calls and keeping information flowing. This is what America is about I thought...THIS is democracy in action. THIS scene before me is what those brave men and woman fighting for us here and abroad are striving for. The right to voice our opinions without suffering censorship, the right to keep and bear arms, the right to be safe from unwarranted invasion of enemies in our homes, the right to be secure in our persons and posessions, the right to not incriminate ourselves, the right to a speedy and fair trial, the right to have a jury of our peers hear our defense, the right to a fair bail amount so we can help to prepare our defense should we be charged with a crime, the right to not be disparaged of our rights and the guarantee that the power shall be always to the people.

It was a great for democracy, a great day to be alive, a great day to thank God for our many blessings and a great day to enjoy the fellowship of others.

Pictures are coming, just waiting for other bloggers who were present to post them.

God bless America, I love you and all your people.

Update 9/10/06 - Hot off the presses here are the pics - Thanks Scott for allowing me to use these!

Our initial corner is a sea of Red White and Blue, with patriotism and love overflowing. Notice the sign in the background, "We Support, the troops, The mission, the President. America." It is every americans patriotic duty to support your president, not continually attack them, be they democrat or republican.

Randy Graf Republican candidate for CD8 He WILL win.

VICTORY TO AMERICA .. this is what it is about people, not partisanship bickering..everyone jumping on the wagon to win this things..when its said and done, THEN go back and rehash things.

The Japanese documentary film crew rolls tape of the front of the base.

American patriotism, filling the sidewalk to overflowing. Notice the sign in the foreground, "Honk to support the troops" And honk they did!

Now how is this for a patriotic truck? All American, All US MARINE CORPS...ooohrahh

A view of the opposite corner filled with people...this is on the side where traffic exits the base, it was a popular spot with some of our older supporters because of the shade.

The film crew films the filmer of the camerman with the camera.

There were 2 people that day brave enough to wear our infidel shirts in the heat, those things are hot in the sun. There was me and another young man, this is NOT me.

Thank you US Military, you are in our prayers. And they are, everyday I pray for their safety and their families, and I pray for our country and the president as well. Not the other sign...Freedom isnt free. Freedom doesnt come from an idelogical principal or a law...no it comes from the brave men and woman of our armed forces who defend democracy, worldwide.

Our lone simple message for the day, Support the troops

The Northwest corner where there was ZERO shade. The true diehards picked this corner, I must say that because I was on it..lol. Thats me holding the large american flag and re-hydrating myself. In the foreground is 1 other PW in the red shirt on the left, and another young man holding a sign saying, "I support our troops and their mission" This young man goes to UofA and we spoke at length about his professors and how on campus, if you are conservative, you keep your mouth shut because the staff will make it hard on you. He was an amazing young man, he happened to be driving by and saw us out there and came to join...he has a lil bro in the Army, and he is proud to be american!

The shade dwellers .. hehe

Old glory...I love this picture with the flags!

The film crew with the folks on the NorthEast corner.

The tall gentleman in the center median is a thorn in the side of many liberals, he is resident expert on all things political in the world. His website is here

God bless America. Many men and woman have fought and died defending this symbol of America and democracy. It still instills fear in the enemies soul when this flag is flown. And you know it strikes fear because people want to burn it and descrate it, that is the sign of a coward and someone who is afraid of what it represents.

I close out with this picture of the Marine Corps Flag and the American flag side by side. The Marine Corps is almost always first with boots on the ground, and they have the most difficult job of defending the american flag. It is for this reason that although we were at the air force base that day, I close it with the symbols American fighting spirit and pride.

The left...and what they are teaching our kids......

I was over on myspace where I have an account and found the following bulletin posted by one of the young people from the church youth group had posted:

EVERYBODY, STAY HOME FROM SCHOOL ON SEPTEMBER 11TH... NO MATTER WHAT SCHOOL YOU GO TO, WHAT STATE YOU LIVE IN, THINK ABOUT IT... TEACHERS SHOW UP AND NOBODY IS IN CLASS... THEN THEY'LL LEAVE... TELL A LOT OF PEOPLE AND LETS SEE IF WE CAN MAKE IT ON NEWS... WHY SEPTEMBER 11TH? CAUSE ITS A DAY WE SHOULD NOT BE IN SCHOOL BECAUSE OF WHAT HAPPENED WE GET SCHOOL OFF FOR A BUNCH OF DEAD PRESIDENTS BUT WE DON'T GET SCHOOL OF FOR A MASS MURDER, MORE PEOPLE WERE KILLED ON THAT DAY THAN ANY NUMBER OF DEAD PRESIDENTS, THESE PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE WE PROBABLY KNEW, CARED ABOUT & ARE MISSED EVERYDAY. MAKE A STAND! ... JUST KEEP REPOSTING AND TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW...NO SCHOOL SEPT. 11TH

p.s. even if you have already posted this, keep reposting it every time u see someone post it

So I inboxed the young lady who posted it with the following message:

This is a BAD way to honor the people who were in that building that day.

Many men and woman, peoples sisters and brothers, unlces, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces, mother and fathers died that day...and you know what? They were there because of their education. To cheapen the day as an opportunity to skip school is insensitive, intolerable and a slap in the face to the families that suffered the ultimate sacrifice that day.

I plead with you on your good conciense XXXXXXX to remove this bulletin.

Thanks

XXXXXX

This was probably (I HAVE ZERO PROOF) started by a kid who has seen protests in the past where people go against the "Man" and have an act of civil disobedience to prove a point. In this case, the original posters point is that there are holidays for everything else, why not 9/11?

My short answer is that its a stupid idea and a slap in the face of americans (Education is of the UTMOST importance in this country) Iffen you aint edumucated you be flippin burgers the rest of ya'll life.

Tell me I am wrong

Update 18:56 -- she sent me a message telling me "you are right, sorry, I will remove it. My faith in our youth is restored .. though it was never REALLY in jeopardy...especially considering these kick ass kids
